Pre conference study tour
Pre conference study tour to E.ON facility in Högbytorp,
15 September, 2020
We invite all conference delegates to take part in the pre conference study tour to E.ON facility in Högbytorp. This visit will go to a unique, new recycling plant which combines biogas and combined heat and power. The latter part was taken in operation January 2020. The plant is dominated by two buildings: the biogas plant, completed in autumn 2018 and the cogeneration plant.
In the biogas plant, food residues and other organic material are used from households and companies in the region. At the digestion, biogas, bio fertilizer and compost are produced. In the cogeneration plant, energy is recovered from waste through combustion, to produce local electricity and district heating. The plant is an example of good resource management and less waste.
The combined heat and power plant is also an important "kidney" for society. Environmental and health-affecting substances such as cadmium and mercury are disposed of safely after incineration and reduce the continued spread in society. Together, the biogas and cogeneration plants create a sustainable cycle of nutrients and energy - between city and country, between consumption and production.
Please note, the programme for the pre conference study tour is subject to change.
Confirmed program will be released before the conference starts.
