In Skandal we get to meet six of history’s female scientist that have received the Nobel prize and a couple that were left without. We ask questions about structures and habitual patterns, show off prejudices, act out injustices and sing songs about scandals – all mixed with hard facts and statistics.
Marie Curie was the first woman to be awarded the Nobel Prize in the scientific categories. Since then, 18 women have received the price, which represents 3% of all recipients in the science field. In 2016, no price was awarded to any woman at all. The science world does not suffer from lack of women, but something seems to happen along the way that restrains them to reach to the absolute top. The performance Skandal wants to raise questions and create discussion about the old structures that still exist and explore the opportunities for change in the future.
