Study visit 2 to Alingsås Laundry that was converted from fossil gas to pellets
Alingsås Laundry converted a steam boiler from fossil gas to pellets in 2013. The new wood powder burner from PetroBio has a capacity of 6 MW.
A new system was built to receive, store and grind pellets into powder, including a dosage system to the burner. To comply with the demands on emissions the plant was equipped with a flue gas filter. At the time the payback period for the investment was less than four years.
The plant is owned by the Region Västra Götaland and is cleaning the laundry from all the hospitals in the Region Västra Götaland and also the Region Värmland. The goal with the investment was to reach the target to be fossil free 2020 and to reduce costs.
