Webinar video: Tackling the emerging threat of fungal drug resistance
Thank you for joining us at the webinar titled "Tackling the emerging threat of fungal drug resistance", on June 23.
This webinar was hosted in partnership with the Chief Scientist Office of the Israel Ministry of Health. The event was chaired by Prof. Micha Friedman from Tel Aviv University and consisted of a series of four short presentations:
Dr. Laura Plant introduced JPIAMR and the fungal resistance consultation.
Dr. Ana Alastruey-Izquierdo spoke about the Fungal Priority Pathogen List by WHO.
Prof. Paul E. Verweij talked about diagnostics and surveillance of fungal resistance - current and future directions.
Dr. Tihana Bicanic presented current and anticipated antifungal drugs.
Prof. Matthew Fisher shared an overview on environment One Health links and emerging fungal resistance.
The presentations were followed by a panel discussion with the participation of Prof. Tom Harrison, Dr. Neil Stone, Prof. Ronen Ben Ami, and Prof. Patrick Van Dijck. The aim of the panel was to discuss the gaps and opportunities in fungal drug resistance and the different ways to connect between the antifungal and antibacterial scientific communities.
One hundred and thirty-nine people from 40 different countries registered for the event. The video recordings of the workshop are now available on the JPIAMR YouTube Channel. The report will be made available on the JPIAMR website.
JPIAMR is in the process of updating the JPIAMR Strategic Research and Innovation Agenda (SRIA), contributing to the development of the candidate One Health AMR Partnership. This activity will support this process by allowing us to collect gaps and needs in the area of fungal drug resistance to include the antifungal scientific community in future calls and to increase collaborations with the anti-bacterial scientific community.
We share this message with all registered participants.
