An analysis of intellectual assets in Rolf Heckemann’s and Hana Dobsicek Trefna’s research projects: Medical imaging software for brain MR, and Microwave therapy for cancer treatment. A study of a software as a medical device and an in-house development of a medical device.
Together with the students at Sahlgrenska School of Innovation and Entrepreneurship and Chalmers School of Entrepreneurship, we have identified central issues around software as a medical device and in-house development of a medical device, and the possibilities of utilizing such in healthcare. We have carried out an analysis of the results of the two research projects in the form av intellectual assets that can be utilized, and connected these to an eternal analysis of factors impacting utilization, such as value chains, market structures and potential collaboration partners.
We would like to discuss these insights and gain input on software as a medical device, and in-house development of medial devices, from both a practical and a policy perspective.
The lunch seminar is led by Ulf Petrusson, professor at the Gothenburg School of Economics, together with Christoffer Hermansson and Anna Holmberg Borkmann from Sahlgrenska´s and Chalmers' School of Entrepreneurship and the Institute for Innovation and Social Change. Henrik Mindedal, director of MedTech West, will also be participating in the discussion together with Rolf Heckemann and Hana Dobsicek Trefna.
Rolf Heckemann, MD PhD, is a professor of Medical Imaging and Image Analysis at Gothenburg University and MedTech West. At this seminar, the students have been studying Rolf´s research project on MRI of the brain and his software for image analysis.
Hana Dobsicek Trefna is an associate professor at Chalmers and MedTech West. Her work aims at clinical introduction of hyperthermia in Sweden, developing an UWB hyperthermia system for treatment of Head and Neck tumors and exploring the possibility of hyperthermia treatment of brain tumors in children.
