This is an online course for veterinarians and nurses wanting more knowledge and understanding of anaesthetic considerations for specific conditions in dogs and cats. Also pre-anaesthetic assessment and pre-medication in these circumstances will be discussed.

Accredited for the Swedish and Norwegian specialist in diseases of dogs and cats programmes, 13 ATF points (Germany) and 13 EBP points (Belgium).

Veterinarians and nurses with some anaesthesia experience in small animals.

Course Description

This course is theoretical but interactive with simulator work and case discussions. You are expected to participate live during the three course days.

The course covers monitoring devices and processes as these are prerequisites for a safe anaesthesia. Anaesthetic considerations for patients with cardiac and kidney disease, respiratory compromised patients as well as anaesthesia for laparoscopy and caesarean sections among other conditions will be covered. 


Learning Objectives

After this course, the course participants will be able to:

  • assess and stabilise the critical patient for anaesthesia
  • understand effects and side effects of anaesthetic drugs
  • use advanced monitoring
  • manage anaesthesia in dogs and cats with serious diseases
  • manage anaesthesia in special critical procedures

Practical Information

This online course can be followed using a smartphone, tablet or computer but a computer is most recommended. We also recommend the use of a headset and a stable internet connection for the best online experience. You are encouraged to participate interactively during the webinar sessions. Instructions will be sent approximately one week before the start of the course. A course certificate is sent after completion of the course. You are expected to participate live during the three course days.


Course Fee

The course fee is EUR 880 (excl VAT) for Non-AniCurian participants.

AniCurian participants - costs will be handled internally. If you have any questions, read our FAQs or contact your practice manager or Late cancellation/no-show fees will be invoiced. Places are filled on a 'first come, first served' basis. Participation has to be approved by your manager ensuring you can take part in the live events.
